Chapter 14: The Final Interview

The regional manger commonly conducts the final interview. Titles vary; however, this individual is usually the district manager’s direct boss.

One of the most common errors a candidate makes when meeting the regional manager is becoming too nervous.

The regional manager’s interview will not be much different than the first interview you had with the district manager, and you passed that one. There is without a doubt, no reason to be nervous. Go in to this interview confident, maybe even a little cocky, but definitely, not arrogant.

The other common error is made regarding dress and attire. Be sure to follow the recommendations made regarding appropriate attire.

You should be prepared with solid answers about why you believe pharmaceuticals is the career for you, why you will be successful selling pharmaceuticals and rehearse your “tell me about yourself.”

The questions that will be asked may be more similar to what you experienced in your second interview. It would be a good idea to review some of the suggestions in Chapter XI on Second Interviews and refresh yourself with your answers to the questions that were asked during your first and second interviews with your hiring manager.

You must be sure to close the regional manager. Ask him for the job or ask him if he will be recommending to the district manager that he hire you. You must get some type of commitment. Candidates who fail to make frank and direct closes at this juncture usually do not receive an offer.
