Chapter 15: References and Background Checks
One prerequisite that a candidate must have is a four-year college
degree. All of these companies will require a copy of your college
transcripts to verify your diploma and GPA.
If you have had major credit problems or bankruptcies in the last
few years, your chances of being eliminated are very high.
Your driving record will be scrutinized.
You may be required to bring copies of your W-2 statements to validate
your earnings.
You should be prepared to provide a minimum of four references.
Preferably these references should be from previous managers, co-workers
and/or clients. An ideal reference list would include two previous
managers and two customers. Co-workers are suitable substitutes
for clients, but not managers. Make sure you know exactly what he
or she is going to say about you prior to listing him/her as a reference.
