Chapter 2: Should You
Use a Recruiter?
If you are serious about getting into pharmaceutical sales, I highly
recommend that you use a recruiter. I would also suggest that you
send your resume to only those who specialize in pharmaceutical
and medical sales recruiting. . These types of recruiters are a
valuable resource and will provide expertise that is not available
to you anywhere else.
The recruiter can tell you what you are doing wrong and he or she
can work out the glitches in your style and/or presentation.
Some of the information
recruiters are privileged to know and share is:
Improvements to your resume accenting qualities the companies
are seeking.
The companys interviewing methods and number of steps
in the process.
Homework you can do and other helpful hints that will help
you prepare.
The managers interview style, including his or her
personality and idiosyncrasies.
What kind of follow-up companies expect from a candidate.
Information on where to do your research and possibly people
you may contact.
Feedback on the results of each of your interviews.
Feedback to help you improve your interview skills based
on the results of your interviews.
Help to negotiate a job offer.
The most significant reason
for utilizing a recruiter becomes apparent during the offer stage
of the interview process. In many cases, the recruiter is privileged
to information that can prevent you from making mistakes and losing
the offer.
