Chapter 4: Appearance
Every industry has a standard of dress, whether it is a suit, uniform,
or jeans and a t-shirt. What may be appropriate for on-the-job,
day-to-day wear may not be appropriate when interviewing. With regard
to the pharmaceutical industry, its standard is very conservative
and traditional. Its important to make the right first impression.
I frequently wonder why candidates work so hard on preparing a resume,
research, homework, interviewing skills, brag book, business plans
etc., yet they are willing to risk it all on wearing a flowered
tie or a pantsuit! Variations and deviations on apparel usually
have less than favorable results.
